This week Year 4 have been looking at the entertaining and funny poem Paean (or Eleven Uses for a Garden Pea). After reading the poem, we came up with our own uses for a garden pea. Then we looked at some other objects such as an orange, a cork, a mushroom and a candle and discussed how these could be used in different ways. Finally, we wrote our own poem in the style of the pea example. The children had some wonderful ideas and great fun coming up with some really interesting uses. Particular favourites were a mushroom being a trampoline for an insect, a satsuma as a bean bag for a mouse and a whiteboard as an ice-rink for a cockroach!
