Wellbeing | Calming Creations | Cheam School

Over the last few weeks children have been coming to The Nest at breaktimes to make a range of calming tools to aid their wellbeing. An example of one of these is the Mind Jar which is full of glittery liquid. Shaking it up fills the jar with a whirlwind of glitter pieces which fly frantically around the jar, this represents the mind when we feel overwhelmed or out of control. The magic is watching the glitter settle as you breathe deeply. These visual aids can really help us practice finding calm again when our minds feel so busy. The children also made miniature stress relievers using a balloon and some flour, a little messy but a lot of fun and they feel great in the palm of your hand. Children were also shown how to finger knit and had the opportunity to make kindness key rings!
