One of our Year 7 Cheam Riders had the most amazing experience on Friday at the Royal Windsor Horse Show. She was taking part in the Pony Club Home International Dressage competition. This is the most prestigious competition in the Pony Club calendar as you are selected to ride for your Nation by the Pony Club HQ. Five team members are selected across all the dressage levels. Selection is based on performance at the Pony Club Championships. Our Year 7 entrant was part of the England team with her Connemara pony Archie (Annaghmore Lad). Archie truly enjoyed the big atmosphere and dealt very well with all the distractions. She rode a beautiful test staying calm and focused under the pressure. All scores count in the team competition so the pressure is on. It was an amazing learning opportunity, giving her experience with riding at this level and for competing in a team. She had the most wonderful team members, all of them older with a lot of high level competition experience including competing at the Europeans. As icing on the cake, the England team won the competition (all four nations participated as well as Rep of Ireland) and she also placed third individually. Huge congratulations!
