Cheam had the pleasure of celebrating La Journée Française on Wednesday. The whole school enjoyed an assembly where we learned about the significance of French culture and its contributions to art, literature, cuisine, and history.
Year 5 enjoyed various themed activities throughout the morning. A performance and workshop from the Big Wheel Theatre Company engaged the pupils in a fun and interactive session where they had the opportunity to practise phrases in the context of games and quizzes which the children loved! Then the pupils had to construct their own Eiffel Towers out of various materials in teams. They were very creative and some fantastic models were made. Afterwards, the children headed outside to have a go at the classic French game of Boules before finally taking on the ‘chasse au trésor’, in which all the groups managed to successfully decode the hidden message to find a well-deserved treat!
Celebrating La Journée Française at our school was an incredible experience that allowed us to appreciate and celebrate all things related to France. It fostered cultural understanding among students while igniting a passion for the French language and its vibrant heritage. We look forward to more such celebrations in the future, as they truly enrich our educational journey.
