Last Friday, 45 enthusiastic boys and girls from Year 4-8 travelled to Eagle House to compete in their annual cross-country meet, along with approximately 750 other runners.
Navigating a challenging and hilly course, the pupils showed huge tenacity when tackling distances ranging from 1.5km to 3.5km. Individual achievements certainly shone through, with notable performances such as 2nd place in the U9 Boys race, 3rd in the U9 Girls race, 1st in the U11 Boys race, 3rd in the U12 Girls race, 2nd in the U12 Girls Race, and 1st in the U13 Girls race.
The pupils ran with real determination and the individual successes were then backed up by all runners as they contributed to the overall team standings. There were silver medals for our U9 Girls and U11 Boys teams, and gold medals for our U9 Boys, U12 Girls, U13 Girls, and U13 Boys teams, and as a group we could not be prouder of all Cheam’s runners. It was a truly fantastic afternoon, witnessing pupils encouraging each other and delivering outstanding performances. The sense of teamwork and dedication culminated in an overall first-place finish, showcasing the true spirit of Cheam. Well done to all our runners!
