Christmas at Kingsclere | Cheam School

Christmas at KingsclereParents and children attending the Kingsclere Carol Concert at St. Mary’s Church on 5 December were greeted with mulled wine and mince pies, as well as music from ‘Brass Routes’ on their arrival. Following a candle-lit procession, the service opened with beautiful solos from India B and Harry E which set the scene for the forthcoming evening. Carols performed by both the Kingsclere Choir and the Cheam Chapel Choir were interspersed with readings by members of the community. Clare Balding hosted the event, welcoming all children and guests in a warm and friendly manner and a highlight was her discussion with the wonderfully charismatic Zanna who described how the charity ‘Living Paintings’ had given her so much sensory help. The carol service would not have been complete without a performance of The Twelve Days of Christmas, along with audience participation. All children, including soloists, excelled themselves and contributed to a very successful and enjoyable evening. A staggering total of £3,382.63 was raised for Living Paintings and all participants left St. Mary’s feeling full of Christmas cheer! Thanks must be extended to Mr. Bennett and Mrs Kinnear for their organisation and input, as well as to Mrs Coxwell, Mr. Bowey and the brass ensemble for their contributions. The Reverend Ben Reade together with members of the community also helped to make the occasion a resounding success.Flickr album: Kingsclere carol service 2019 | Height: auto | Theme: Default
