On Thursday our Year 7 pupils had an unforgettable experience at the Williams F1 Centre, where they were immersed in the world of cutting-edge engineering and motorsport. The day began with a visit to the incredible Williams F1 Museum, showcasing the rich history of one of Formula 1’s most iconic teams. Pupils explored legendary race cars and learned about the evolution of F1 technology.
Next, they put their design and teamwork skills to the test in a hands-on nose cone design challenge. Collaborating in teams, they worked through the engineering process to create aerodynamic and crumple zoned concepts, reflecting the precision and innovation that drive F1 success. The highlight for many, however, was the chance to compete on professional E-Sports simulation rigs, where they raced against their peers in a thrilling virtual F1 experience. The competitive spirit was high and children got a taste of the skill and focus required to be a racing driver.
Overall, the trip was a fantastic opportunity for pupils to see STEM in action, engage in practical challenges and gain a deeper appreciation for engineering and design in the world of motorsport. A huge thank you to Williams F1 for an inspiring and exciting day!
