The Drama Scholars from Years 7 and 8 took a trip into London for a backstage tour of the National Theatre. They had the opportunity to see the inner workings of one of the country’s most prestigious theatres and got hands-on with items from real West End shows! During the tour, pupils saw final technical checks for the press night of Coriolanus and a get-out of a show. They also got to observe the set, props and scenic painter departments all busy at work creating items for their next programme of shows. After a spot of lunch and a browse around the National Theatre shop, the pupils crossed the river to do an acting workshop at Danceworks with a West End professional focusing on theΒ character motivation in The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time. It was a hugely inspiring, fun and interesting day for the drama scholars and one they won’t soon forget!
