U10 Winchester College Football Tournament | Cheam School

The boys have steadily grown in confidence over the season, becoming more aware of space and of each other. On Saturday they were very excited to compete in the Winchester College Football Tournament.

The opening pool matches are always a lottery, but the boys came away with two wins, one draw and one loss. This put them at the top of the pool and they faced Summer Fields in the semi-final. This was decided by a single goal which set up a rematch with Ludgrove. Despite having the better opportunities, Cheam couldn’t get past the opposition’s keeper, who ended up being Player of the Tournament. Even after extra time, both teams were in deadlock and it came down to penalties. Unfortunately, Cheam were the first not to score, again down to a fine save by the Ludgrove keeper. Even so, the boys really stepped up to the challenge and performed superbly throughout the day. All of them should be very proud of achieving second place and only conceding three goals in six matches. Well done!
