Cheam Book Week | Cheam School

It has been another memorable week here at Cheam, as our annual Book Week roared into life on Monday…and kept on roaring all week! Of course, author Jenny McLachlan got the ball rolling last Friday with some very special writing workshops, and the momentum hasn’t slowed since.‘Book Nooks’ returned, with teachers sharing passages from their favourite stories. These were a daily fixture, and it was a joy to see children bustling down the corridors in search of a new ‘nook’! Not surprisingly, the Headmaster’s Study was particularly popular, though the crackling fireside readings in the Dining Hall were a close second. Biscuits were also provided this year, which may have explained the marauding ‘muggles’!World Book Day itself saw the arrival of some outstanding costumes, which were showcased in an exciting assembly. The ’Sorting Hat’ made an unexpected appearance, placing teachers into some controversial divisions! To top off the week’s festivities, pupils in the Prep treated us to some memorable performances in our three Reading Competition finals. All in all, it has been a wonderful week, and we hope the children feel fully fired up about the power of reading! Huge thanks to Mr Wright and his team for organising an incredible week for us all to enjoy.
