U13 and U11 Girls Berkshire Hockey Champions | Cheam School

It is that time of year where the children are pulled in a million directions from scholarships, play, music exams to their sport but one of the best things about our children here at Cheam is that they embrace and go from challenge to challenge with so much energy and enthusiasm that it is infectious! What a huge effort our U11 and U13 Girls gave in the Berkshire county hockey tournaments these past few weeks with both teams taking home the county champion titles! The U13 girls had the hard task of emulating last year’s success and they took this pressure in their stride with some big performances coming in the semi-final with a 3-0 win against St Andrew’s and a 2-0 win against Lambrook in the final to become U13 Berkshire champions for the second year running. They played eight games in total that day conceding only one goal along the way. This was the first time Cheam had entered an U11 team into the competition and what a day it proved to be for the girls. They battled it through the group stages and showed their determination in the knock out stages with some exciting matches to take them through to the final against Lambrook in a tightly contested game where we won 1-0 win to become U11 county champions! What a brilliant achievement from the girls! They have the South Finals on Friday 13th and Monday 23rd March in Woking and we wish them luck as they are pitted against the other counties in the South.
