Cheam’s annual parents and staff golf day took place on Friday 27th September.A keen group of staff and parents fought it out for the coveted trophy at Sandford Springs Golf Club and the competition proved as hot and as enjoyable as ever. Thankfully, the heavy showers and forecast rain was kept to a minimum and all players enjoyed a course in very good condition. After the 18 hole Stableford Competition, the staff (average 31.4 points per player) just pipped the parents (29.5 points per player) to regain the trophy after a couple of years without it. Rupert Elwes won the Longest Drive prize and Mr Rawson the Nearest The Pin prize. In the individual competitions, overall winner for the ladies was Miss Millar on 32 points and Mr Pike won the men’s competition with 38 points. The team of Mr Godwin, Mr Braans, Mr Compton-Burnett and Mr Shannon won the group competition. My thanks to all who played and we hope to make next year’s competition even bigger. Here’s to 2020!
