Year 8 Geography Fieldwork TripEarly in the Autumn Term the Year 8s embarked on their Common Entrance journey as all 61 pupils headed off to the River Chess near Amersham. The children were introduced to new fieldwork techniques and were challenged to investigate changes along the course of the River Chess from source to confluence. The River Chess is a small chalk stream which flows into the River Colne before entering the River Thames. The children were tasked with comparing the velocity, width, depth, wetted perimeter, bedload and discharge. It was a super day and we are hoping the projects which will be submitted to their senior schools will reflect the hard work which they put in on the day.
